Notewize for Instructors

Are you still asking your online students to watch lesson videos, download PDFs, and juggle backing tracks for practice? There’s a better way! Modern technology has revolutionized music instruction, and now the most interactive teaching and practice tools are at your fingertips.

Notewize helps you modernize your teaching approach and tap into a huge market of students who gravitate toward gamified learning systems (over 20 million students use Yousician to learn music!). If you're a guitar instructor creating lesson videos, TABs, and backing tracks, you’ll soon be able to sell your content as dynamic, interactive Lesson Packs in the Notewize Store!

Making a Lesson Pack for Notewize is simple!

Step 1: Create the Learning Material

  • Lesson Packs can include a combination of lesson videos* and practice songs* (guitar TABs + backing tracks)

  • Lesson videos can be any length and on any aspect of guitar playing

  • Guitar TABs can include a variety of techniques including notes, chords, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends, and even helpful text above the TAB

  • Backing tracks can be as simple as a metronome click or as complex as the sound of a full band

    * All Lesson Pack content (video, TAB, audio) must be owned by the instructor. You are not permitted to sell content that you do not own (e.g. cover songs, popular riffs and solos)

    • Overseeing the addition of your Lesson Pack into Notewize: Guitar Lessons

    • Training the note detection AI system so Feedback Mode and Practice Mode recognize everything that is included in your TABs

    • Doing a full QA check of your Lesson Pack before it goes for sale in the Notewize Store

Instructor FAQ

Who sets the price for my Lesson Pack? You do! You set the price for each Lesson Pack, and you receive 50% of the proceeds from each sale. (Price is set in USD and proceeds are calculated after App Store and Play Store in-app purchase fees)

Can I teach cover songs? You are not permitted to sell Lesson Packs containing content that you do not own. Therefore, you can teach songs in the public domain, but you cannot teach songs that are currently under copyright.

How do I submit guitar TAB? Notewize imports music xml files in order to create guitar TAB. Music xml files are a text-based file that allows music notation to transfer from one program to another. Most music notation software (GuitarPro, MuseScore, Sibelius, Finale) supports music xml export by choosing File -> Export.

Do I have to include lesson videos and practice songs? You are not required to include lesson videos and practice songs. A Lesson Pack can include just lesson videos, just practice songs, or both. But keep in mind that practice songs are what make Notewize unique, so its best to include them!

Do I have to include audio for each practice song? Yes. Each practice song must include guitar TAB (as music xml) and audio at the same tempo. Audio can be as simple as a metronome click or as complex as a full band recording. It's up to you!
