Warm-up #1: Hammer-ons

Hammer-ons are a great alternative to picking notes on the same string, because you play the note with your fretting hand. This warm-up will get you started with playing hammer-ons from fingers 1 to 2, 1 to 3, and 1 to 4.

Warm-up #2: Hammer-ons

This hammer-on warm-up is a bit more intense than the last one. This time, you will play a sequence of quarter notes and alternate between picking the string and using hammer-ons.

Scale: Major Scale (E Shape)

The E Major Scale Shape uses all 6 strings, and has the root on the low E string played with finger 2. This lesson will teach you the scale shape and show you a great exercise to use for practicing the scale.

Scale: Major Pentatonic Scale (E Shape)

The E Major Pentatonic Scale Shape is very similar to the E Major Scale Shape, with a few notes removed. Check out this lesson to learn the scale shape and find out how to practice it across the neck.

Chord: Open D Major Chord

The open D major chord is another popular chord for guitarists, and only uses 4 strings. This lesson shows you how to play the chord, and includes a practice song to help you work on switching chords.

Chord: Open G Major Chord

The open G major chord is one of the most commonly played chords on guitar. The G chord and Em chord are often next to each other in songs, and this lesson will show you the best way to switch between them.

Technique: Hammer-ons

Hammer-ons are a great way to play more notes with less picking, because you play the note with your fretting hand. This lesson shows the best technique for doing hammer-ons, and includes a lead guitar style practice song.
